Latest Solar Radio Burst - 225MHz to 450MHz

This page is incomplete because the spectrometers are still being developed and tested throughout November 2024.

The images above are scans of the very high frequency (VHF)/ultra high frequency (UHF) range of the Solar Radio Spectrometers at Middleton.  While the receiver pair of 62 & 63 scan the same frequency range, there will be subtle differences between image pair receive path characteristics and also due to polarisation effects on the received signals as they pass through the Earth's ionosphere.  This specific frequency span between 250MHz and 450MHz is due to the quadrature hybrid coupler chosen to discriminate circularly polarized radio waves.  This section of the spectrum is relatively radio frequency interference (RFI) quiet, apart from the regular satellite communications seen above 410MHz.
